While the world waits on the iPhone Dev Team to release their iPhone 2.0 OS firmware jailbreak solution in order to unlock updated iPhones and new iPhone 3G's, DesbloqueioBr has unveiled their own SIM unlock solution. The hardware unlock solution from DesbloqueioBr is similar to the TurboSIM unlock solution that we saw released last year.
DesbloqueioBr's SIM-adapter hitches a ride on the back of any GSM SIM card and uses some complex programming and circuitry to convince the iPhone 3G that a test-SIM has been inserted. Once the iPhone is tricked in to thinking in to locking on to an authorized GSM carrier's signal, the DesbloqueioBr SIM card adapter takes a back seat to the SIM card.
The DesbloqueioBr unlock solution doesn't require a jailbreak, so we'd imagine that it's a more reliable unlock solution than any software-based solutions out there. As far as pricing is concerned, we're all left in the dark. Here's to hoping that the DesbloqueioBr SIM unlock solution goes live soon.
