I stumbled across a new site recently and thought I would share it with everyone. Its called TestFreaks, though currently still in beta, I was really amazed by the amount of information that I had learned from it about a digital camera that I was looking for as a gift. Basically what TestFreaks is, is another gadget / electronics comparison, but the impression that it gave me from just using it after five minutes was that it was not just any user community led product comparison site, it had some quite unique features and in many ways even more sophisticated than larger and more popular sites like ReviewCentre.

So what's it about? TestFreaks is actually a site that was founded by the same people who found PriceRunner. As mentioned, it is a price comparison site mainly for gadgets and electronics. TestFreaks is kept quite up to date with information on the latest products in the market these days but at the same time it's a great place for owners to share their experience about products which they have bought and owned with those that are interested in buying them. Not only does TestFreaks provide basic information from manufacturers descriptions, specifications, manuals and news. It is also equipped with reviews from users, professionals, blogs and forums for every product! I was well impressed by the amount of reviews it had for every product that I looked at, I was able to learned lots about the pros and cons. Expert and user reviews were conveniently located and well structured with all the boring bits cut out. And of course, along with all this, TestFreaks also does product comparison and a price comparison for you amongst major online shopping sites.

Here's an example of the things I did when I looked up the Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd digital camera I was looking for. I first clicked into the digital cameras section and looked for the brand that I was interested in, in the sidebar on the left:

After clicking into Fujifilm, the camera I was interested in could be compared with other similar cameras that was also available:

After selecting three that I wanted to compare, I was able to see in greater detail the ratings in which TestFreaks had given to each of them:

And lastly, if you clicked into the product you wanted to see, you will find all the relevant links to reviews, forum threads and pricing. Quick navigation to all the links regarding this product is availabe on the left. What I liked in particular was on the right, you will find pictures and relevant videos of the product, this is something I like to see and I usually end up searching it on YouTube myself but here TestFreaks has done the video searching for you from a number of sources:

So if you're looking for a site to quickly check out some ratings and reviews for a particular gadget that you're wanting to buy, we recommend that you visit TestFreaks. Their Freak Score and easy to use comparison features will definitely give you a much better idea of whatever it is that you were looking for, it certainly helped me sort out what I wanted!
