Car-lovers and racing enthusiasts have been offered a rare opportunity to take home a piece of true automobile history. The celebrated prototype 1960 Jaguar ‘E2A’, which has the impressive history of racing in prestigious events like the Le Mans, America 500-Miles race at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin and ‘Los Angeles Times’ Grand Prix at Riverside, California among others, has been put up for auction at the Bonhams & Butterfields annual Quail Lodge sale. The classic beauty which has been owned by the family of prominent collector and racing photographer Guy Griffiths for over 40 years, is currently fitted with a 3.8-liter XK competition engine and an original competition 3-litre power unit. Presented in original and untampered ex-works condition, the model was seen as the ‘missing link’ between the D-Type and E-type Jaguars. This legendary sports-racing prototype that shaped Jaguar’s future is expected to fetch in excess of $7 million at the August 15 auction.
