Sure, the Playstation 3 is all the rage these days, but let’s not forget how many hours of happiness Sony’s Playstation 2 afforded us on those dateless Saturday nights. Well, for me anyway.
Sony hasn’t forgotten. In fact, they’ve given the PS2 a makeover for 2008. On July 3, the PS2 will hit the shelves with a new “red cinnabar” paint job, injecting a little color into the heretofore monolithic gaming system. The new PS2 will go for ¥16,000 (or around $153).

In addition, Sony will be sprucing up its Playstation Portable (PSP) in a new “metallic blue.” You can pick that up for ¥23,800 (or $227) for the Value Pack, or ¥29,800 (or $284) for the a decked out bundle including a 1seg tuner, 1GB Memory Stick, and matching carrying case.
