It’s amazing how the technology of music players evolved over the span of 7 years. First we had the monochrome screen, and then the colored ones and now touch screen music players are coming out like mushrooms. Like the Samsung YP-P2 music player, they’ve come out with a new one. Great interface, Bluetooth connectivity that lets you use Bluetooth capable earphones! So that means no more wires! So is it an iPod touch killer or just another iPod touch wanna be? Find out more about the design and the features as well as the performance later on.
Design
Now we’re talking about Samsung here, if you’re familiar with Samsung they always make slim and light type of gadget.
• It measures 3.8 inches in height, 2 inches wide and just 0.3 inch thick. When you see this, it resembles the iPod Touch, like a lot!
• You can control the interface using your finger tip with its 3 inch screen. Not bad, I do heart big screens. But you don’t necessarily have to control everything on screen like play/pause/power buttons, because you can find those on the left side of the player, and the volume control on the right side. You do have to look on the screen everytime you wanna control your music.
• There’s also a mic hole located at bottom edge of the player as well as the headphone jack lining and propriety dock.
• Btw, the Samsung has a built in stereo Bluetooth. That means there’s no adapter required for those who want to cut the cord between their MP3 players and headphones, provided the headphones use Bluetooth as well. Oh and you can receive calls from your phone thru your Samsung P2 by Bluetooth connectivity. So you can’t miss any calls while listening to music or watching video.
Features and Performance
I always say that Samsung makes one of the best interfaces out there, that’s because it’s true. The Samsung P2 has an awesome interface
• First you have 3 choices of settings. One of them is called Cosmos. The selections sit in different depths of field (as if in space) and as you swipe your finger up or down, the selections orbit into view. You may select any visible option on the screen, even if it appears “farther away” on the screen. You can also have your own background aswell!
• So after you’ve selected your favorite setting of choice, you can check out the music section where everything is arranged for you. The fun part here is the playback screen. You can shuttle through the visual settings by tapping the screen. You want full track info, large album art, or one of four moving visualizations, including a graphic equalizer. It’s just a tap away!
• The P2 has a great FM radio. 30 presets and has numbered buttons show up along the bottom half of the screen so you can jump to the station that you want.
• Let’s not forget a massive amount of sound effects, including a nine-band custom Equalizer. I heart this bit!
• The device also plays video, a resolution of up to 480×272. You can also view Jpeg pictures which you can view while listening to music.
• The P2 has some other useful features, like the calendar, alarm clock and you can put text file documents. Actually I thought I read somewhere that you can put ebooks, but I’m not really sure because I got confused in the end. I should try it, it might just work.
• Finally the battery rated 35 hours of music playback and 5 hours of video playback. And comes with 4 gig and 8 gig of storage.
Pros and Cons
