Hands on with the Jabra JX20 Pura headset
2008-08-05 15:47:24 by Peter in Product Reviews NetGadgets & Technology

Over the past few years I have had a number of Bluetooth headsets, some I am too embarrassed to mention. Now I have had the chance to put something with a bit more quality in my ear. The earpiece that I am reviewing today is the Jabra JX20 Pura, this earpiece has been designed by Jacob Jensen.

It was just two years ago when Jabra wowed us with their JX10, this headset was small and elegant. Jabra has done it yet again with the JX20. From the moment I started to remove the Jabra JX20 Pura from the box, I could tell that although it was light the quality of the build was remarkable. You really have to hold one of these Bluetooth headsets in your hands to get an idea of just how light it is
.

The reason that this earpiece is so light is the mix of plastic and titanium. I did worry that the earpiece was a little on the small side, I am so used to having a huge piece of plastic hanging out the side of my ear. Once I placed the JX20 Pura in my ear I was very surprised as these things do tend to fall out of my ear, this is because I have narrow ear canals, but I needn’t have worried the fit was perfect. For those of you who would like a bit of extra support, you can attach an ear hook which comes supplied.

One of the best features I like about the headset is the deskstand, this also acts as a charger. Once your Jabra JX20 Pura is fully charged there is enough talktime for up to 6 hours.

Turning the headset on is easy, this is done by simply rotating the earpiece 90 degrees. Once you turn the headset on for the first time, it will go into paring mode. From then we all know how to pair a headset, remember that the paring code is 0000.

As many of you know the JX seires from Jabra is not a cheap Bluetooth headset, but like most gadgets, you pay for what you get. You might ask what are you getting for you money, well you get crystal clear sound which has been created by Digital Sound Processing technology.

Like all headsets the volume can sometimes be at an uncomfortable level, the intelligent volume manages to keep things manageable for your ears. Many times I have spoke to my brother on a handsfree earpiece and he can be a little loud, I was thankful that the Jabra JX20 Pura was able to adjust his volume level. This also works if the person on the other end speaks softly.

I have to say that the packaging is a little over the top, once I took out all the pieces I was left with a huge pile of card and a mass of foam. Well that is the one bad point.

In the box you get:

  • 1 Jabra JX20 Pura intelligent desk charger
  • 1 Jabra JX20 Pura leather necklace
  • 1 Jabra JX20 Pura Storybooklet
  • 1 AC power supply
  • 1 illustrated user manual on mini CD, Quick start Guide
  • 2 Jabra ear hooks (1 small, 1 medium/large)
  • 4 Jabra ear gels ( 2 rubber rings and 2 teardrop eargels)
